RICHARD REINWALD, CMB
President
E-mail: president@rbanet.com
Reinwald opened Reinwald's Bakery in 1988 and is a third generation retail bakery owner. He works in the bakery with his wife of 30 years, Carole. One of his three sons works in the business making him the fourth generation in the family bakery.
Reinwald is also active in his local community. He organized a bread donation program for INN of Hempstead in 1984, which later expanded to Long Island Cares. Many participating bakeries continue to donate to this worthy cause today.
Reinwald has long been active in the baking community through his volunteer service for the Retail Bakers of America (RBA) and the New York State Association of Manufacturing Retail Bakers (NYSAMRB). He has served on the Executive Committee of the RBA since 2004, and the Board of Directors since 1994. He also served as a judge for the VICA Commercial Baking Competition sponsored by RBA, thus passing his passion for baking on to younger generations.
Reinwald served as president of NYSAMRB from 2001-2002 and of the Nassau-Suffolk Retail Bakers Association from 1985-1986. He served as chairman of Centennial celebration of NYSAMRB and raised $100,000 for the Culinary Institute of America and the National Baking Center. He served as a director for the Inter-county Bakers Distribution Corp. from 1984-1995 and chairman of valuation committee and later subsequent sales of Inter-county Bakers Corp. Reinwald represented the Nassau Suffolk Bakers Association before the Nassau County Legislature on the trans-fat issue in 2007.
Reinwald qualified for the Certified Master Baker (CMB) designation in 1999. To achieve this designation, bakers must meet established, stiff eligibility criteria and successfully complete a rigorous two-day hands-on examination. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
